The Jewish Federation and Foundation of Northeast Florida serves as a trusted philanthropic partner for Jewish donors, agencies, synagogues, and community organizations. The Director of Planned Giving & Endowments will lead the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of planned gifts, endowments, and donor-advised relationships that advance the Federation and Foundation’s long-term mission. Working closely with fundholders, professional advisors, staff, community agencies, synagogues, and volunteer leaders, the Director will expand permanent assets, deepen charitable gift planning, and inspire donors to create lasting Jewish legacy commitments.

Success in this role will require strategic relationship-building, strong technical fluency in planned giving and endowment development, and the ability to translate donor values into meaningful philanthropic outcomes for the Jewish community.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Foundation Department Advisory Committee to establish strategic priorities for asset development, planned giving, endowments, and professional advisor engagement.
  • Develop and execute a measurable planned giving strategy aligned with the Federation and Foundation’s mission, vision, and long-term community priorities.
  • Staff the Investment Oversight Committee, support policy compliance, and help monitor fund performance in partnership with appropriate advisors and leadership.
  • Guide organizational priorities for fund development, gift agreements, and endowment structures that support both restricted and unrestricted needs of the Jewish community.
  • Cultivate and solicit planned gifts and endowments, manage gift agreement completion, and advance donor commitments from initial interest through stewardship.
  • Build and steward relationships with current and prospective donors, fundholders, investors, community partner agencies, synagogues, and annual campaign donors.
  • Ensure that the Board of Directors, volunteer leaders, and key staff remain informed about relevant legal, fiduciary, and compliance considerations related to endowment development.
  • Maintain regular communication with estate, tax, and financial professionals to strengthen advisor relationships and promote philanthropic planning opportunities.
  • Represent the Federation and Foundation at relevant national, international, or community meetings, conferences, and missions as appropriate.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Strong commitment to the mission, goals, and values of the Jewish Federation and Foundation of Northeast Florida.
  • Minimum of five years of nonprofit development experience, with demonstrated success in major gifts, planned giving, endowment development, or related philanthropic work.
  • Experience working with governance structures, volunteer committees, and staff or cross-functional teams.
  • Commitment and experience in providing high-quality service to donors, volunteers, grantees, and colleagues
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; able to communicate clearly, diplomatically, and persuasively, and to facilitate meetings; able to prepare written communications of the highest professional quality
  • Consistent demonstration of integrity, discretion, analytical judgment, problem-solving ability, and strong interpersonal skills, with the capacity to manage people and processes effectively.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments with time constraints
  • Understanding of the legal and financial considerations that inform planned giving, endowment development, and nonprofit fundraising is required.
  • Knowledge of and deep respect for Jewish values and communal life is highly desired.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university is required; advanced degree or professional designation such as JD, CFP, CFRE, or ChFC is desirable.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and availability for occasional evening, weekend, and out-of-town commitments are required.

Compensation: 

The salary range for this role is $95,000 to $105,000, accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package.
