While annual fundraising campaigns drive the operational engines of Jewish Federations nationally, legacy giving plays a critical role in making sure the future of these organizations is secure. The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington is seeking a Director, Planned Giving, to make sure that the community strengthens its foundation for future generations.
The Federation has hired Sageview Executive Search, a division of Sageview Consulting, to find an experienced relationship builder to fill the position, which is entitled, Director, Financial Resource Development/United Jewish Endowment Fund (UJEF).
The connections the successful candidate will make and maintain are with the UJEF’s major donors, both present and future. He or she will be charged with communicating the benefits to donors of UJEF, and developing the tools and strategies to encourage continuing support for the program.
In doing so, the Director will work with both the organization’s senior lay leadership and a talented team of professionals and volunteers. Especially important will be implementing multi-generational family philanthropy and a donor longevity program that recognizes years of giving to the Annual Campaign
Potential candidates must have 8-10 years of experience with annual fundraising, planned giving and solicitation of major gifts, and the tools and strategies to plan and sustain these efforts. A Bachelor’s degree is required and an MBA or Masters in a related field is preferred. An understanding of the needs and interests of the Jewish community is an additional requirement.
